Chief Commercial Officer at Vita Inclinata

Shelby Mounts is the current Chief Commercial Officer at Vita Inclinata. Shelby has also previously served as the Executive Steering Committee - Metals Affordability Initiative (MAI) lead at Air Force Research Laboratory from January 2018 to May 2020. In this role, they were responsible for identifying, developing, and coordinating R&D projects as well as engaging in consortium management, teaming, and project execution.

MAI focuses on industrial metal alloy and manufacturing technology development through collaborative teaming and project management to enable cost-effective solutions for critical Defense needs. The MAI Association (MAIA) is the advocacy arm of MAI, and Shelby supported legislative engagement to articulate the value of MAI to National Security and ensure US Congressional support for continued consortium funding.

Prior to their role at Air Force Research Laboratory, Shelby served as the Director of Defense Aerospace & Maritime Business Development at ATI - Allegheny Technologies Incorporated from December 2016 to June 2020. In this role, they were responsible for leading business development activities and teams in support of the DoD, Coast Guard, and NOAA.

Before their time at ATI - Allegheny Technologies Incorporated, Shelby served as the CEO of Riverside Consulting Services LLC from December 2015 to September 2016. In this role, they were responsible for providing management consulting services to small businesses in a variety of industries.

Shelby Mounts graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Science. Shelby went on to earn their Master of Science in International Business from the University of San Diego - Knauss School of Business. Shelby also completed an Executive Education program at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. Shelby Mounts has also completed the Naval Aviation Safety Officer Course at the Naval Postgraduate School. Shelby is certified by the GSA in Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA) - Designated Federal Officer (DFO), US Navy in National Security Studies (2000S) subspecialty, and Operational Risk Manager, and FAA in Private Pilot, Fixed and Rotary Wing (Instrument Rated). In addition, they are certified by the Defense Acquisition University as a Requirements Manager and by the US Navy in Resource Management & Analysis (3000P) subspecialty and Systems Engineering - Integration (6500S) subspecialty.
