Kawika Chun

Kawika Chun currently serves as the Head of School at Wai'alae Public Charter School since June 2025. Prior to this role, Kawika held the position of Vice Principal at Mōkapu Elementary with the Hawaii State Department of Education from July 2024 to June 2025. Kawika was the Founding Principal of EQ5 Elementary at Equitas Academy Charter Schools from January 2019 to June 2024. A background with Aspire Public Schools from July 2009 to December 2018 included various roles such as Assistant Principal, Instructional Coach, Dean of Instruction, and Elementary School Teacher. Initial teaching experience was at The Accelerated Schools from May 2007 to June 2009. Kawika's educational qualifications include a Ryan Fellowship from the Accelerate Institute, a Master of Arts in Elementary Education and Teaching from the University of Southern California, and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Media Studies from the same university.
