Derek Smith

Derek advises clients on mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and capital raises focused on Waller Helms' target sectors.

He brings more than 15 years of experience in corporate finance and strategy, investment banking and the capital markets. Prior to joining WHA, Derek worked at CNA Financial Corporation, having held leadership roles within Finance and Claims Analytics, including Vice President of Corporate Development where he was responsible for mergers, acquisitions, capital and rating agency management, investor relations, and financial planning and analysis. Previously, Derek was a Vice President in Macquarie Capital’s Financial Institutions Group and an Associate at Fox-Pitt Kelton. He began his career in corporate finance at General Electric.

Derek received his MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management and holds an undergraduate degree in finance from the University of Notre Dame.
