The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority has had a number of different leaders over the years, all with experience in various transportation-related fields. Previous executive officers have come from the Federal Railroad Administration, while directors have come from both the public and private sector. The current board is made up of leaders from a variety of industries and educational backgrounds, including transportation engineering and mechanical engineering.
