Alex Harris

Associate Director, Government Relations & Strategic Partnerships at Wellcome Trust

Alex Harris is the current Associate Director of Government Relations & Strategic Partnerships at Wellcome Trust. Prior to this, they served as the Interim CEO of British Society for Immunology from May 2018 to September 2018. In this role, they led a healthcare charity delivering access to medicine to up to 3 million people each year caught up in humanitarian crises or living in fragile states.

From November 2017 to April 2018, Harris took a sabbatical and served as a strategy, policy, and advocacy leader in global health. In this role, they shaped access to medicines agenda through engagement with key international institutions and created and oversaw the execution of an organisation-wide strategy to increase speed and ease of access to medicine.

Harris has also served as a trustee for City Gateway from July 2016 to July 2019 and as the CEO of International Health Partners from August 2007 to October 2017. Prior to these roles, they worked as a consultant for Instinctif Partners from September 2006 to August 2007.

Alex Harris completed an Economics & Politics degree at the University of Exeter.
