William C. Hunter

William C. (Curt) Hunter is dean emeritus and professor of finance at the Henry B. Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa. He served as the Henry B. Tippie dean from July 1, 2006, to June 30, 2012. Prior to his appointment as Tippie dean, he was dean and distinguished professor of finance at the School of Business at the University of Connecticut.

He served as a senior official in the Federal Reserve System for more than 15 years in leadership positions in Washington, Atlanta and Chicago. His last Federal Reserve assignment was as senior vice president and director of research at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, where he served on the bank's management committee and was an associate economist on the Federal Open Market Committee, the Federal Reserve System's primary monetary policy group.

Dr. Hunter has held faculty positions at Emory University, Atlanta University, the University of Georgia and Northwestern University and served as a United States Treasury Advisor in Eastern and Central Europe.

A former director of the Xerox Corporation, he currently serves on the board of and Nuveen Investments Mutual Funds and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He is past president of Beta Gamma Sigma — the International Business Honor Society, the Financial Management Association and the Southern Finance Association.

Dr. Hunter received a Career Achievement Award from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University in 1992. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Hampton University and MBA and Ph.D. degrees from Northwestern University.
