WFHomie Appoints Blair Griffiths as Operations Manager

Remote workplace platform WFHomie has announced the appointment of Blair Griffiths as Operations Manager. Blair will report to co-founder and CEO Pavla Bobosikova and will play a leading role in helping customers to establish foundations for their remote working requirements that allow employees to stay connected and businesses to achieve their goals.

Blair was born and raised in Montreal, Canada. She has a degree in Commerce and a Master’s degree in Business Administration, which she completed after a three-year career in commercial banking. Her Master’s degree helped her to pursue her interest in the retail sector, and she has spent the last six years working in finance, project management, and operations with Sephora. During that time, she helped to deliver the company’s 'Reserve Online, Pick up in Store' and Instacart projects.

She believes with the world moving towards remote workplaces, it’s a great opportunity to understand the best way to grow remote businesses that support their staff.

“For these companies, often it’s not necessarily their area of expertise to be able to provide all this stuff to their staff. So we can own that,” she says. “We make the experience personalized for the employees, and it's a good value add for the companies we work with. For example, with onboarding processes, they can feel very informal when you're remote. But we're there to put that personalized touch on it and provide new employees with things that can make them feel closer to the company, regardless of where they are.”

Blair is a big fan of cooking, and can usually be found in the kitchen when she’s not at work. Outside of that, she loves playing tennis in her spare time.

Aleena Dar Joins WFHomie as its Digital Marketing and Partnerships Manager

Remote workplace platform WFHomie has named Aleena Dar as its new Digital Marketing and Partnerships Manager. Aleena believes her job is the most exciting position within the company, as she gets to meet all the incredible virtual event hosts and innovate exciting new ways to provide virtual online programs. Aleena was born to Pakistani parents, but grew up in Brunei and moved to Canada in 2017 to attend the University of Toronto. She is currently in the final year of her honors degree in health science and political science and hopes to be accepted to study for her Master’s in community engagement next year. A proactive and engaged person, Aleena has worked as a programming assistant and with the Pakistani Students’ Association at the University of Toronto during her studies. She has also been a social media coordinator with the Urban Alliance on Race Relations. She got interested in remote working when it became more common at the onset of the COVID pandemic. “I feel like we're going to be working virtually for a long time,” she says. “The amount of ease you have working from home is significant, especially when you might have a long commute. It’s a sphere that’s really developing in a way that people can work from home without feeling disconnected. A lot of companies see it as temporary, whereas other workplaces are really taking full advantage of it. I was talking to a theatre company about this recently and even they were embracing working virtually, which shows what can be possible.” Aleena likes to explore new hiking trails and she’s an enthusiastic baker who often gets inspiration from TikTok. She also has significant experience volunteering in Brunei with organizations devoted to helping poverty and promoting recycling.

WFHomie Has Added Oliver Daniel as Software Developer

Remote workplace platform WFHomie has announced it has hired Oliver Daniel as a Software Developer. Oliver’s role will focus on Full-Stack Development, utilizing his skills in web technologies, system architecture, and UX. Oliver is currently studying for his degree in computer science and linguistics from the University of Toronto, though he’ll put his studies on hold while working in his new role. He has served in a wide range of summer internships while studying, gaining diverse experience with companies including Avion-Cargo Polytechnique, Nuance Communications, Scotiabank, and Tudu. He is also the former co-chair of the Toronto Youth Network. For Oliver, being a developer is the perfect combination of his love for tech and his love for language. He can speak four languages, and is studying a fifth, and has learned a range of different coding languages, including some that are self-taught. He says his new role is especially exciting as he’s able to touch every element of the company’s platform. “Everything that our clients interact with, I’m probably going to touch at least one line of code or some piece of the user interface,” he says. “Right now, it's mostly a lot of front-end work, but there are also a lot of opportunities to work with the database layer authentication, making sure that users' data is secure and that it's getting to all the right places. I’m also really excited about the developer operations side of it, although it’s a little scary because I haven’t done it before. Oliver is a passionate performer, and in his spare time likes to get involved in music and live theatre, both on stage and behind the scenes. His interests in the arts is broad, including different instruments across a range of genres.
