Kassia Echavarri-Queen

Kassia Echavarri-Queen is the Director of Community Investment, Community Resources at Wikimedia Foundation. Kassia has worked for a number of organizations including ThoughtWorks, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), Fritz Institute, and TradeBeam.

Echavarri-Queen has always been passionate about social change. Kassia started their career working for Doctors Without Borders/MSF in 2003. Kassia spent three years working as a project manager before being promoted to Supply Manager in 2007. In 2010, they were promoted again to Country Director/Head of Mission.

In 2014, they left Doctors Without Borders/MSF to become an independent consultant. Kassia worked as a consultant for three years before joining ThoughtWorks in 2016. At ThoughtWorks, they served as a Principal Consultant until 2020.

Echavarri-Queen is currently the Director of Community Investment, Community Resources at Wikimedia Foundation. In this role, they are responsible for leading the team that invests in and supports the global Wikimedia movement.

Kassia Echavarri-Queen has a Masters in International Economics and Management from SDA Bocconi, an Executive Program in Social Entrepreneurship from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, and a BA in International Relations with a Minor in International Business from Alliant International University. Kassia also has certification from The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport in Certification in Humanitarian Logistics and from IDEO U in Insights for Innovation.

Kassia Echavarri-Queen reports to Lisa Seitz-Gruwell, Chief Advancement Officer.
