David Chan Smith

David Chan Smith currently serves as the Chair of the Department of History at Wilfrid Laurier University since July 2011, where leadership of a 20-member faculty includes the innovation of new programs and offerings focused on work-integrated learning, professional development, and the intersection of humanities and artificial intelligence. Prior to this role, David Chan Smith was the Allston Burr Dean of Kirkland House at Harvard University from July 2008 to July 2011. David Chan Smith’s career began at IBM Canada, where responsibilities as a Brand Management Associate spanned from April 1997 to July 2001. Educationally, David Chan Smith obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in History from Harvard University, completing the program between 2000 and 2007.
