Working Options

Every young person deserves the opportunity to fulfil their potential. However, persistent inequities contribute to youth unemployment, highlighting the crucial need of our programmes to help young people to explore their options and find their careers. Established in October 2019, our purpose is clear: to help young people aged 14-19 to create positive futures for themselves. We focus on creating positive pathways by providing essential career opportunities and nurturing vital life skills. These include increasing awareness of their own skills, fostering a growth mindset, inspiring higher career aspirations, building resilience, enhancing their sense of agency, and promoting awareness of career pathways aligned with their interests. Our approach is hands-on and personalised. Dedicated volunteers, supported by our team, share impactful stories and conduct skills-based workshops in schools and educational settings, equipping young people with practical skills for their future. Beyond school engagements, we organise immersive events in business settings, offering young people – often their first – in-depth experience of the world of work. Our impact extends online, where our curated digital content reaches millions of young people, delivering compelling career stories and practical insights. Central to enabling our aim is our network of partner companies. Through these collaborations, we connect young people with diverse career paths, ensuring equitable access to opportunities, and helping them realise their talent. Looking ahead, our ambition is to remove all barriers to social mobility across the UK, having a positive impact on equality, diversity, and inclusion. We envision a society where every school has access to quality careers information and where employers adopt innovative approaches to talent recruitment, fostering a more inclusive workforce.
