Nahoko Shindo

Nahoko Shindo is a seasoned professional in the field of biosecurity and health security with extensive experience at the World Health Organization since June 2006. Currently serving as Unit Head a.i. for Biosecurity and Health Security Protection, Nahoko Shindo focuses on advancing epidemic and pandemic preparedness, particularly in relation to man-made biological threats. Previous roles include Unit Head for Epidemic Forecasting and Infectious Disease Strategies, Manager of Expert Networks, and Coordinator for the Epidemic Clinical Management Unit, which aims to minimize the impacts of severe infections. Additionally, Nahoko Shindo has led the Battle against Respiratory Viruses initiative and has held the position of Medical Officer and Senior Researcher at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases, concentrating on infectious disease surveillance and data analysis. Nahoko Shindo holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from The Jikei University, complemented by additional qualifications from FRCPEdin.
