Michael Tarasov

Michael Tarasov is an experienced cartographer currently working at Yandex as part of the Self-Driving Group since January 2023. Previously, Michael held the position of Head of the Cartography & GIS division at FRECOM LTD, where responsibilities included GIS project planning, quality control, and directing GIS work for significant infrastructure projects. Prior roles included Principal Specialist and Aerial Image Processing Specialist at Gamayun.Aero LLC, where Michael developed workflows for aerial image processing, and GIS Specialist at Intelligence Software LLC, responsible for creating multiscale mapping for the Federal Ministry of Emergency Situations. Michael holds a PhD and Master’s degree in Cartography from Lomonosov Moscow State University and has enhanced education from Practicum USA and EPFL.
