Timothy Hirzel has a diverse work experience spanning different companies and roles. Timothy started their career at MIT Media Lab as a Masters Student and Research Assistant. From there, they joined Resonon Inc. as a Software Engineer, where they led the development of software for imaging spectrometers. After that, they worked as a Contract Software Developer at Fathom Inc., where they developed a web app for picking March Madness brackets.
Hirzel then joined Harvard University as a Senior Software Engineer, where they played a key role in the development of a high throughput virtual screening system. Timothy also worked on backend systems for quantum calculations and managed a database.
Next, Hirzel became a part of Kyulux, first as a Senior Researcher, where they led the software engineering team in using Python, Django, and Postgres to manage and leverage compute on AWS. Later, they became the Director of Software and Data Engineering.
Currently, Hirzel is working at Zapata Computing, Inc. as the Product Director. Prior to this role, they held positions such as Chief Orquestra Evangelist, Chief Product Officer, Vice President of Engineering, and Director of Engineering. Throughout their work experience, Hirzel has demonstrated strong technical skills and a focus on leveraging software to enable scientific advancements.
Timothy Hirzel completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science at Harvard University from 1995 to 2000. Timothy then went on to pursue a Master of Science degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Media Lab from 2000 to 2002.
