Andreessen Horowitz hires first General Partner focused on later-stage investing
David George has joined Andreessen Horowitz (A16Z) as General Partner where he will focus on later-stage investment opportunities. A16Z is building out its later-stage investment capabilities as it sees venture-backed companies staying private for longer. As a result, A16Z believe that "investment appreciation opportunities that previously existed in the public markets continue to shift to the private markets."
Scott Kapoor, Andreessen Horowitz Managing Partner, said in a statement: "We talked with a lot of potential candidates for this role, but what impressed us most about David, in addition to his investment track record, was that everyone we talked to in the industry said he was among the most respected investors in the business."
George was previously a Principal at General Atlantic where he focused on internet and technology investments. He was responsible for leading or partnering on various investments during his tenure, including Airbnb, AppDynamics, Benevity, CrowdStrike, Mi9 Retail, Opendoor, Seismic, Slack, and Uber.
