Asiff Hirji, President & Chief Operating Officer, has left Coinbase after less than two years on the job. Hirji was a very high profile hire for Coinbase joining the company from prominent Venture Capital fund Andreesen Horowitz. The executive shakeup comes just a month after the departure of Balaji Srinivasan, Coinbase’s chief technology officer.

Prior to Andreesen Horowitz, Hirji was President and COO of TD Ameritrade, the world’s largest online broker, helping them grow to 4,000 employees. He has also held senior leadership and governance roles at HP Enterprise Services, TPG Capital, Saxo Bank, and Bain Capital.

Hirji will be replaced by Emilie Choi, Coinbase’s vice president of corporate and business development, who will take over as Chief Operating Officer. Tina Bhatnagar, Coinbase’s vice president of operations and technology, also is expected to leave her role in the next few months.
