Pratim Mallick

Pratim Mallick is currently the Android SDK Manager at 100ms. Pratim previously worked as a Senior Software Development Engineer II at Hotstar from February 2019 to January 2021. There, they worked on the Android app's player module of India's largest OTT platform, which has more than 100 million active monthly users serving both VOD and Live contents in 8 different languages. Pratim also worked with the Product and Design team to come up with solutions to tough problems with proper analytical approach and extensive A/B testing. Some of their notable achievements include improving the download speed of VoD contents by merging of segments of byte range encoded contents, designing an error handling module which can be used by all the components of the entire app to show error message to user and also help developer understand any customer facing issue, integrating Dolby and 4k (UHD) in the Hotstar app of AndroidTv and FireTV, and improving the playback experience by using various analytics and metrics. Overall, they helped improve playback success rate from 95% to 99.5%. Pratim also worked extensively using exoplayer to stream DASH and HLS contents seamlessly in the app. Prior to Hotstar, they were a Lead Software Engineer at Sling Media from January 2018 to January 2019.

Pratim Mallick received a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) in Dhanbad. Pratim then went on to pursue a career in computer science, working as a software engineer and eventually becoming a project manager.
