Michael Hellman is an experienced organizer and therapist with a strong background in labor organizing and mental health services. Currently serving as an Organizer and Lead Organizer at 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East since October 2021, Michael has led labor organizing contact campaigns. Prior experience includes roles as a Child and Family Therapist at North Shore Child & Family Guidance Center, providing clinical mental health services, and as an MST Therapist at The Children's Village, focusing on adolescents transitioning back into home environments. Michael's internship experiences, including positions at the Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services and NYC Department of Education, have strengthened skills in counseling and crisis management. Michael holds a Master of Social Work from Hunter College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology & Spanish from the University of Rochester. Currently, Michael is pursuing a Master of Arts in Labor Studies at CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies.
