Thomas Hofmann

Thomas is Professor of Computer Science at ETH Zurich, co-Director of the Max-Planck ETH Center for Learning Systems, and Head of the Data Analytics Group. He has published more than 90 peer-reviewed papers and along with Jurgen is the co-founder of 1plusX.

His list of past employers reads like a who’s who of AI mastery, including Google, MIT, UC Berkeley, Brown University, Fraunhofer, and ETH. He’s also a startup veteran, having founded one of the first successful AI companies, Recommind.

Thomas is the human mind behind their AI brain. He spends a lot of time thinking about mathematics and philosophy, mostly on long runs through the beautiful Swiss mountains.
