Stephen Virostek's career includes more than 20 years of investor relations experience. He was most recently at Diebold Nixdorf, Inc., where he managed all investor relations communications and events. Prior to Diebold, he served as head of investor relations at Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) and directed investor relations activities for the Sprint Nextel Corporation and Nextel Communications, Inc. Virostek received a bachelor's of business administration degree from James Madison University and a master's degree in business administration from The George Washington University.

Andrew Hermalyn

Adam Drudge is the current Chief People Officer at 2U. Prior to this, they served as VP of Human Resources for Card Servicing and Platforms at [Capital One](/org/capital-one) from August 2011 to September 2021. Before working at [Capital One](/org/capital-one), Drudge was the Corporate Director of Human Resources at Carrier Enterprise LLC from July 2009 to August 2011. Adam also served as the Regional Human Resources Manager at Carrier Corporation from September 2007 to July 2009 and at [Ingersoll Rand](/org/ingersoll-rand) from September 2004 to September 2007. Drudge began their career in human resources as the Human Resources Manager at Milliken & Company from June 1998 to September 2004.

Adam Drudge has a MA in Global Human Resources Development from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a BA in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from [Davidson College](/org/davidson-college), and a BA in German Cultural Studies from [Davidson College](/org/davidson-college).

Adam Drudge

Katie Race Brin is the Chief Privacy Officer (CPO) at 2U, Inc. Previously, she served as CPO for the [Federal Trade Commission](/org/federal-trade-commission) (FTC), where she provided counsel to FTC senior leadership on a wide range of privacy-related issues.

As CPO of the FTC, she managed the Commission’s internal privacy program, which included overseeing agency compliance with federal privacy laws, as well as developing and ensuring adherence to internal policies and procedures that protect the privacy of personal information. Brin also served as the Senior Agency Official for Privacy and coordinated the FTC's Breach Notification Response Team.

Before becoming the FTC’s CPO, Brin served as senior advisor to the director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection focusing on technology and policy issues. She also spent seven years as an attorney in the FTC’s Division of Privacy and Identity Protection, bringing groundbreaking cases in the area of privacy and data security. Additionally, she worked in private practice at [WilmerHale](/org/wilmerhale) in Washington, D.C. and completed federal clerkships with Judge Thomas Platt in the Eastern District of New York and Judge William Bassler in the District of New Jersey.

Katie Race Brin

Ebony Lee is 2U’s executive vice president, head of learning products, where she is responsible for the development and execution of a unified product strategy from free courses to degrees. In this role, she identifies strategic opportunities, builds collaborative partnerships, and works across the business to drive product innovation designed to delight customers and improve the quality of 2U products for partners and learners.

Prior to joining 2U, Lee was SVP of strategic development at [Comcast](/org/comcast), where she managed a large operating budget to identify, analyze, and launch new businesses and partnerships in non-traditional spaces. She was the driving force behind LIFT Labs for Entrepreneurs and was also a founding team member of several innovation ventures. Before [Comcast](/org/comcast), Lee managed strategic planning and innovation roadmaps for Sprint Nextel’s 4G WiMax venture (ultimately sold to Clearwire). She also spent several years advising communications and high-tech companies in strategy, organization design, and operations as a management consultant at A.T. Kearney.

Lee holds an MBA from [Harvard University](/org/harvard) and a B.S. in Commerce from the [University of Virginia](/org/university-of-virginia). She is on the Board of Musicopia and volunteers with local K-12 schools, living her belief that a well-rounded education elevates everyone.

Ebony Lee

Brad Adams is Chief University Operations Officer at 2U, Inc. As CUOO, Adams oversees the progressive learning design, operations, execution, and academic success of 2U’s global graduate and short course products. He leads a driven team of more than 650 people and oversees several departments, including student outcomes, curriculum and learning, and placement. In this capacity, Adams is responsible for collaborating with university partners and the internal teams he manages to conceptualize and implement new initiatives aimed at consistently improving retention and graduation rates for students across the full spectrum of 2U-powered programs.

 Adams joined the company in 2009 as executive vice president of post-enrollment services, managing the service components of the student lifecycle. Prior to 2U, he served as general manager of [Educate Online](/org/educate-online) and vice president of technology for Sylvan Learning.

Adams holds a BA in history and MPIA in public policy and international affairs from the [University of Pittsburgh](/org/university-of-pittsburgh) as well as an MBA from MBA@UNC, the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School online MBA program powered by 2U. With more than 20 years of edtech experience, Adams has an unyielding passion for quality, student outcomes, and service.

Brad Adams

Lorin Thomas-Tavel is the managing director of boot camps at 2U, Inc., where she oversees the performance and growth of the company's boot camp business. In this role, she drives the design, production, and execution of the portfolio’s operating plan to achieve its key financial targets and customer satisfaction metrics. Thomas-Tavel also oversees future product innovations and improvements to the student experience that help further drive program quality and outcomes.

Thomas-Tavel began her career at Kaplan in 2007. In her 14 years at the company, she served as Chief Administrative and Chief Operating Officer for their test prep business, before taking on the role of Chief Experience Officer for Kaplan North America. In her leadership roles, Thomas-Tavel led business transformation efforts, helped the business transition to a more consumer- and product-focused structure, and drove innovation efforts that diversified the company's product portfolio. Before Kaplan, she held executive positions with Ann Taylor, where she helped the company grow from a small national footprint to more than 800 stores and launch its online presence.

Timothy M. Haley

Harsha Mokkarala is 2U’s chief revenue officer, leveraging his previous experience as chief marketing officer and, more recently, chief data scientist to drive strategic alignment in revenue generation and enact data-informed decisions to advance the agility and growth of edX.

Mokkarala started with 2U in 2013 as the executive vice president of marketing strategy and then was named chief marketing officer, where he used a combination of analytical and technical expertise to inspire company innovation. In 2020, Mokkarala became chief data scientist to strategically enhance the way the company collects, analyzes, and uses data to make informed business decisions.

Before joining 2U, Mokkarala had a successful career at [Capital One](/org/capital-one) where he held senior roles in digital marketing and managed all facets of online marketing for the company’s credit card acquisitions group.

Mokkarala earned a Masters in Computer Engineering from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He lives in Bethesda, MD, with his wife and two children.

Mr. Paucek is a co-founder of the Company and has served as our Chief Executive Officer and as a member of our Board since 2012. He previously served as our President and Chief Operating Officer from April 2008 through December 2011. Prior to 2U, Mr. Paucek served as the Chief Executive Officer of Smarterville, Inc., the parent company of Hooked on Phonics, from 2007 until 2008. From 2004 to 2007, Mr. Paucek served as Vice President of Business Development and President of Educate Products for Educate, Inc. In 2004, Mr. Paucek served as Deputy Campaign Manager for the successful reelection campaign of United States Senator Barbara Mikulski. Mr. Paucek began his career in 1993 by co-founding Cerebellum Corporation, the media company behind the award-winning educational Standard Deviants television program and video series, and he led Cerebellum as Co-Chief Executive Officer until 2003. Mr. Paucek holds a B.A. from The George Washington University and an M.B.A. from the Kenan-Flagler Business School of the [University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill](/org/university-of-north-carolina-at-chapel-hill). Our Board believes that Mr. Paucek's knowledge of the Company as one of our co-founders, and his broad experience leading education companies, enable him to make valuable contributions to the Board. 

Christopher Paucek

Michael Kurbjeweit is 2U’s chief marketing officer, responsible for creating alignment and efficiencies across all global marketing functions. He has spent the last decade driving acquisition, conversion, and platform marketing strategies for the company and its partners.

Since beginning his tenure in 2013, Kurbjeweit has led highly effective marketing organizations and functions, with particular focus in performance marketing. His entire career has been dedicated to creating new, bold approaches to demand generation, digital strategy, marketing analytics, and revenue generation.

Kurbjeweit holds a B.A. in Communications from Christopher Newport University and a M.S. in Integrated Marketing Communications from Northwestern University. He also graduated from the 2U-powered Harvard Business Analytics Program in 2020.

When not rolling up his sleeves at work, Michael enjoys time with his daughter (Chloe), wife (Ginny), and Samoyed pup (Koda). Whenever possible, he tries to improve his golf game.

Michael Kurbjeweit

​​Lauren Holliday is 2U’s executive vice president, head of marketplace product, where she oversees the performance, development, and growth of the company’s free-to-degree online learning marketplace. Previously responsible for a team that grew the edX business 10x through an investment in customer orientation, experimentation, and collaboration, Lauren will bring her expertise in product to unite learners, companies, and universities on a single platform.

Over the course of her career, Holliday has rallied teams to solve critical customer challenges in innovative ways. At edX, she launched MicroMasters in 2016 and Professional Certificates in 2017. While at Amazon, she launched the Elastic File System, an AWS product. At LinkedIn, she was involved with the acquisition of Lynda.com (now LinkedIn Learning).

Holliday graduated with honors from Harvard Business School and earned a Bachelor’s from Northwestern University. When she’s not on Zoom, Holliday can be found with her husband chasing their children, who in turn are chasing seagulls, down the beaches of New England.

Lauren Holliday

John “Dobbs” Dobbertin is 2U’s senior vice president of student engagement, focused on delivering the greatest experience possible for learners through exemplary service. Dobbertin oversees student success, coaching, credential management, and admissions—all areas of the business key to fulfilling 2U’s mission to unlock the potential of learners across the globe.

Since joining 2U in 2017, Dobbertin has served in a variety of leadership roles centered on driving world-class student outcomes.

Dobbertin has been active in the edtech space since 1998. Prior to 2U, he was the chief operating officer at Helix Education, managing director of Australian-based EQUELLA, and senior vice president of business operations and services at Pearson.

While today he has over 20 years of experience leading teams in the edtech space, Dobbertin began his education career as a French kindergarten teacher. He holds a Bachelor’s in Education and French from Niagara University and enjoys golf, travel, hiking, wine, and fly fishing. He is happily married with a Boston Terrier pup named Tonka waiting for him at home in Denver at all times.

Andy Morgan is 2U’s senior vice president of corporate development and strategy, leading mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, and other corporate strategic initiatives.

Prior to joining 2U in 2018, Morgan spent seven years at Pearson managing merger and acquisitions and global business transformation across Pearson’s media and education businesses. Earlier in his career, Morgan worked in the London office of Ernst & Young in a variety of transaction advisory and consulting roles serving private equity clients.

Morgan lives in Bethesda, MD, with his wife and two children. He holds a BSc in Economics from the University of Warwick.

Andy Morgan

Megan Gift is 2U’s chief of staff. With over 15 years of leadership experience streamlining strategic initiatives, Gift excels at overseeing change management and guiding interdepartmental and cross-cultural communications.

Gift joined 2U in 2013 and held a variety of key senior-level roles where she was responsible for communications and corporate citizenship before becoming chief of staff in 2017. Prior to 2U, Gift was a strategy and marketing consultant, created communication and business development strategies in the nonprofit sector, and led corporate services and county operations for an African technology company based in Ghana.

A seasoned chief of staff with a B.S. in Human and Organizational Development from Vanderbilt, Gift also earned an MBA from the 2U-powered MBA@UNC program at the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School. She lives in Wake Forest, NC, with her husband and two children. In her spare time, she enjoys collecting art, painting with her daughter, playing board games, listening to records, and giving back to her community.

Megan Gift

Anant Agarwal is 2U’s chief platform officer, guiding and furthering the company’s vision to increase access to high-quality education for everyone, everywhere. As founder and CEO of edX, Agarwal brings his expertise in building powerful online learning platforms to align product and technology at 2U as the company creates the world’s most comprehensive free-to-degree online learning marketplace.

As the first educator to teach an edX course on circuits and electronics from MIT, Agarwal drew 155,000 students from 162 countries. He remains a professor of electrical engineering and computer science at MIT today. Previously, he served as the director of CSAIL, MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.

Agarwal is a successful serial entrepreneur, having co-founded several companies including Tilera Corporation, which created the Tile multicore processor, and Virtual Machine Works. He has received multiple accolades over the years for his pursuit of great educational innovation. He won the Maurice Wilkes prize for computer architecture and MIT's Smullin and Jamieson prizes for teaching. He is also the 2016 recipient of the Harold W. McGraw, Jr. Prize for Higher Education, which recognized his work in advancing the MOOC movement. Additionally, Agarwal is a recipient of the Padma Shri Award from the President of India and was named the Yidan Prize Laureate for Education Development in 2018.

A pioneer in computer architecture, Agarwal is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a fellow of the ACM. Scientific American selected his work on organic computing as one of 10 World-Changing Ideas in 2011, and he was named in Forbes' list of top 15 education innovators in 2012.

Agarwal held a Guinness World Record for the largest microphone array, is an author of the textbook "Foundations of Analog and Digital Electronic Circuits,” and in his spare time he hacks on WebSim, an online circuits laboratory. He holds a Ph.D. from Stanford and a bachelor's from IIT Madras.

Anant Agarwal

Matt Norden is 2U’s Chief Legal Officer and oversees securities, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and intellectual property matters.

Norden joined 2U in September 2013 as Deputy General Counsel. He helped lead 2U through its successful initial public offering in 2014 as well as the company’s acquisition of GetSmarter, which closed in July 2017. Norden was recognized for his career achievements in 2016 when he was named one of the DC region’s top 40 in-house lawyers.

Prior to 2U, Norden served as Vice President, General Counsel at TOMS Shoes. He served four years as the company’s global in-house legal counsel, providing cross-border advice to executive management on a variety of strategic and operational issues and played an integral role in the company’s rapid expansion to China, Europe, the Middle East, and South America.

Matt Norden

Ms. Maybank has served on our Board since December 2018. She is an internet entrepreneur and currently serves as the Chair of the Board of [Girls Who Code](/org/girls-who-code-inc). Ms. Maybank co-founded Project September in 2016 and served as its Chief Executive Officer until December 2017. Prior to co-founding Project September, she co-founded Gilt Groupe and served as its founding Chief Executive Officer from 2007 to 2008 and in several other executive roles, including Chief Strategy Officer, Chief Business Development Officer, Chief Marketing Officer and President of Gilt Home and Kids from 2008 to 2014. Prior to co-founding Gilt Group in 2007, Ms. Maybank was General Manager of eCommerce for AOL Media Networks and served in various senior roles at [eBay](/org/ebay). Ms. Maybank holds a B.S. from [Harvard University](/org/harvard) and an M.B.A. from [Harvard Business School](/org/harvard-business-school). Our Board believes that Ms. Maybank's experience in e-commerce and scaling rapidly growing technology companies enable her to make valuable contributions to the Board.

Jack Larson

Todd Glassman got his start at 2U as outside counsel in April 2009 and became the company's first General Counsel in 2013. Before joining 2U, Glassman spent more than 15 years in private practice at the law firm of [Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel LLP](/org/obermayer-rebmann-maxwell-hippel-llp) in Philadelphia. There, he was a partner in both the corporate and labor relations and employment law departments, and co-chair of the firm’s education practice group. He has represented clients in the education field throughout his career, including businesses in the educational media and experiential learning fields, education-based events production and a public school district. He graduated from The George Washington University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and received his Juris Doctorate from Temple Law School.
