Midhun Gopakumar has worked in various engineering roles since 2009. Midhun began their career as an Inplant Trainee at the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited in 2009. In 2010, they were a Summer Intern at the ISRO Satellite Centre, where they conducted an analysis of the design rational, precision fabrication process, assembly and quality control of the ISRO Laser Gyroscope and observed and trained on advanced CNC operations and processes. In 2011, they joined Schneider Electric as a Design Engineer, where they researched and developed low voltage switchboards based on customer needs and technical standards for European and Indian markets. Midhun also performed product lifecycle management and handled various PMP/PEP projects from conceptualization to design implementation, production and commissioning. Additionally, they conducted a study on "Contact resistance of aluminum busbars in low voltage switchgear" as a Research Intern. In 2018, they joined 3DEO Inc. as a Senior Mechanical Engineer, later transitioning to a Mechanical Engineer.

Midhun Gopakumar completed their high school education at Atomic Energy Central School, Kaiga in 2007. Midhun then went on to receive their Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University in 2011. In 2016, they earned their Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southern California. In 2010, they obtained a certification in Bosch Rexroth Hydraulic, Pneumatics, PLC, Sensorics and Mechatronics Modules from SJCE Bosch Rexroth Knowledge Centre in Automation Technology. In 2014, they also obtained a certification in Seismic design, vibration and shock testing of electrical distribution products from Central Power Research Institute.
