Sezer Karaoglu

Co-Founder, CTO at 3DUniversum

Sezer Karaoglu has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and companies. In 2007, they worked as an intern at Alcatel-Lucent Turkey, followed by an internship at ITU Multimedia Signal Processing Lab in 2008. Sezer then joined Turkcell Iletisim Hizmetleri A.S. as an Engineer in 2009 and later transitioned to Turkcell Technology Research and Development as a Research Engineer in 2010.

In 2011, Sezer joined the University of Amsterdam as a PhD candidate and worked there until 2015. After completing their PhD, they returned to the University of Amsterdam in 2017 as a Postdoctoral Researcher.

During their time at the University of Amsterdam, Sezer co-founded ScanM in 2017, which was later acquired by 3DUniversum. Sezer held the role of Co-Founder at ScanM until December 2019.

In 2014, Sezer co-founded 3DUniversum and served as the company's Co-Founder and CTO. Sezer remained with the company until the present.

More recently, in 2021, Sezer co-founded two new ventures: Fairfake and weScan.io. Sezer currently holds the role of Co-Founder at both companies.

Sezer Karaoglu began their education at A. Kerim Bengi Anadolu Lisesi, where they completed their High School degree from 1996 to 2003. Sezer then enrolled at Istanbul Technical University and pursued a degree in Telecommunication Engineering from 2004 to 2009. Sezer furthered their studies at the Université Jean Monnet Saint-Etienne, where they earned an MSc in CIMET from 2009 to 2011. During the same period, they also attended Gjøvik University College and obtained a Master in Science in Multimedia Technologies. Sezer continued their academic journey at the University of Amsterdam, specializing in Computer Vision. Sezer completed their Master Thesis from 2010 to 2011 and ultimately achieved a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Vision from 2011 to 2015.
