At 4601 Consulting, we sit at the intersection of people and technology. The name comes from the 46 chromosomes that make us human, and the 01 of binary code that powers technology. Our work is about bringing those two worlds together, translating human insight into build-ready clarity that de-risks digital products and services.

Too many digital initiatives fail because they’re based on assumptions. Features get built that nobody needs. Products take too long to launch. Change requests pile up when it’s already too late. That’s where we come in.

Our approach is evidence-led. We uncover what people truly need, want, and are willing to pay for. Then we turn those insights into clear requirements that give development and implementation teams the confidence to move fast and build right the first time. The result? Less waste, faster adoption, speed to value, and stronger ROI.

We work with organisations who want to:
•De-risk development by replacing assumptions with human insight.
•Accelerate adoption through solutions that fit real needs from day one.
•Unlock value faster by shortening the path from idea to execution.
•Differentiate in the market by going beyond table stakes.

Our process is proven and practical: strategic alignment, market intelligence, human research, co-creation workshops, journey mapping, rapid prototyping, interface and flow clarity, real-world validation, and pricing strategy. It’s not design for design’s sake, it’s about building products and services that work for people and deliver measurable value for business.

Founded by Francois du Preez and Zander Powell, 4601 brings together decades of experience in product strategy, innovation, and enterprise delivery. We’ve worked with leading banks, insurers, telcos, and retailers across South Africa and beyond. Along the way, we’ve built a trusted network of researchers, strategists, product managers, prototypers, and UI designers - specialists we know, trust, and bring in when needed.
