Javier Monzon is an economist, born in Madrid. He has a financial and entrepreneurial background.

He was Corporate Banking Director in Cajamadrid (the second largest Spanish savings bank) and a managing partner in Arthur Andersen on Corporate Finance Consulting Services.

He was CFO and Executive Vice President of Telefonica in charge of Corporate Development as well as Chairman of Telefonica International.

He was the founder Chairman of Indra -the leading Spanish IT multinational with operations in more than 50 countries- where he remained as Chairman and CEO for more than twenty years until 2015.

He is currently Chairman of Openbank, the digital bank of Santander Group, where he is also board member and Chair of the Nominations, Governance and Responsible Banking Committee in Spain.

He has been board member of relevant Spanish and international private and listed companies. He is also an investor and advisor of technology based start-upas and venture funds.

Javier Monzon is strongly committed with non-profit organizations supporting entrepreneurship, education and innovation: he has been Vice Chairman of the Board of Carlos III University and member of the International Advisory Council of Brookings (the leading US think tank). He is currently Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Knowledge and Development Foundation (Fundación CyD) and board member of Endeavor (the organization supporting high impact enterpreneurs) in Spain.
