John Mayes

John Mayes is an experienced executive with a strong background in human capital management and organizational development across diverse industries. Currently serving as an Operating Partner at 5I Ventures since April 2025, Mayes focuses on empowering early-stage startups in Fintech and Healthtech sectors. Previously, as Chief People Officer at GEMS Education, leadership during a significant transitional period was pivotal. Mayes also held the Chief HR Officer position at SoftwareONE, where responsibilities included guiding the company through crucial growth phases, including an IPO. Experience extends to roles at Korn Ferry Futurestep and Michael Page International, where leadership in sales growth, account management, and team development was demonstrated. Mayes began a career at PwC as a Consultant after receiving a BSc in Geography from UCL.
