Joel Albarella

Joel Albarella serves as the Senior Vice President and Head of New York Life Ventures at New York Life Insurance Company since September 2007, where Joel founded and leads New York Life Ventures, focused on building a diverse portfolio for financial and strategic investments. Albarella has also held key roles such as Chief of Staff for NYL Investments, overseeing asset management strategies and reporting directly to senior leadership, and as Director of Strategy and M&A, where responsibilities included strategy development and execution of mergers and acquisitions. Albarella contributes to several organizations as an Advisory Board Member for 8VC and Formation 8, and as a Strategic Advisor for FTV Capital. Prior experience includes roles at Deutsche Asset Management and Hewitt Associates, showcasing a strong background in financial analytics and technology leadership. Albarella holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a bachelor's degree from Rutgers University.
