Brian Dearing

Brian Dearing is currently the Co-Head of European High Yield Research at 9fin. Prior to this, they worked as a legal secondee in Deutsche Bank's leveraged finance legal team with a focus on high yield from January 2020 to July 2020. Before that, they were an associate at White & Case LLP from August 2015 to December 2021, where they represented investment banks, private equity sponsors and companies in connection with international securities offerings, including high yield bond offerings and other Rule 144A and Regulation S debt offerings. Brian also worked on private placements, restructurings, liability management exercises, and corporate governance matters. From May 2013 to July 2013, Brian was a summer associate at Miller Canfield, where they researched and prepared memoranda on international arbitration procedural rules, mineral lease and chemical disclosure issues related to hydraulic fracturing, municipal millage authority, Alford Pleas, and jury instructions. Brian also successfully had a felony conviction set-aside for a pro bono client. The process included interviewing the client, filing the appropriate motions, filing a brief in support and speaking in court on the client’s behalf. Brian also drafted an assignment and amendment of a land contract. In addition, they performed a direct examination and cross examination of two expert witnesses in a mock trial competition provided by Miller Canfield. Brian also observed attorneys in court performing motions, hearings, direct and cross examinations, and openings for trial.

Brian Dearing has a Masters Degree in Corporate Law from the University of Cambridge, a Doctor of Law (J.D.) with a focus on Capital Markets, Corporate, and Securities Law from the University of Michigan Law School, and a Doctor of Law (J.D.) in Law from The University of Toledo. Brian also has a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology from Adrian College. Brian is certified by CybSafe in CybSafe Certification in Security Awareness and by Financial Edge Training in 9fin Training 2022.
