A-1 Alternative Fuel Systems is a third-generation, family-owned company specializing in the engineering, manufacturing, and integration of high-pressure fuel storage and delivery systems for vehicles and bulk fuel transportation.

We partner directly with leading OEM chassis manufacturers—including Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Freightliner Trucks, Kenworth Truck Company, Peterbilt Motors Company, and Autocar Trucks—to deliver fully integrated alternative fuel vehicle solutions. Our capabilities include complete system design, high-pressure fuel storage and delivery, and vehicle integration across a wide range of applications, from transit and shuttle buses to refuse, vocational, and commercial fleets.

In addition to OEM integration, A-1 performs light- and medium-duty vehicle conversions to clean fuels, including compressed natural gas (CNG) and propane (LPG), enabling fleets to transition existing platforms to lower-emission, cost-stable energy solutions.

A-1’s roots trace back to 1988, when Mark Gilio and Almindo Feijoo founded A-1 Auto Electric in Fresno, California. Built on a reputation for technical excellence and unmatched customer service, the company expanded into alternative fuels in 1995, converting its first vehicle to natural gas in response to growing air quality concerns in California’s Central Valley. Additionally, A-1 become the first Ford Qualified Vehicle Modifier in the early 2000s.

Today, A-1 Alternative Fuel Systems has deployed thousands of alternative fuel vehicles across North America and continues to lead with a focus on performance, reliability, and hands-on customer support.

Fuel solutions include:

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)
Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Propane / LPG)
Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)
Hydrogen (H₂)
Hybrid Electric (HEV)
Battery Electric (EV)
