A Seat for Humanity is an Australian, non-partisan initiative to create the 77ᵗʰ seat in the Federal Senate - a voice dedicated to the long-term interests of the entire human race, the entire planet and the global commons we all share including: climate stability, safe AI, pandemic security, clean oceans, junk free space orbits and thriving biodiversity.

Why? 21st century global threats transcend borders, yet our political systems still think in natinoal driven and  short election cycles. Embedding a Humanity Senator inside Parliament would hard-wire global stewardship into Australia’s daily law-making and set a legal precedent other nations can replicate. It would set the legal precedent for other countries to adopt similar mechanisms weighing in the interests of humans beyond their borders within their national decision making.

This idea will be open to public consultation to co-design a Bill for Parliament with input from Australian citizens, academic, industry groups, community groups and more.
