For decades, Afghan stories have been told by outsiders. The world often sees Afghanistan through the lens of war, conflict, and despair —flattening millions of voices into a single narrative of victimhood. "A Thousand Voices" is a Projects for Peace initiative that dares to challenge the world's perceptions. Through a powerful short story competition, we are reclaiming narrative space—offering Afghan youth, from Kabul to the diaspora, the chance to write their own stories in their own words. This is a movement to amplify the silenced, to humanize the misunderstood, and to preserve the stories history too often forgets.
