Brian Barritt

CTO at Aalyria

Brian Barritt has a diverse work experience across multiple companies. Brian began their career at Boston Scientific, where they worked as an Embedded Software Engineer from 2006 to 2009. During this time, they played a key role in designing and implementing firmware for secure wireless communications in FDA Class-3 implanted medical devices. Brian also led the bring-up of the first hardware cryptographic security processor in an implanted cardiac medical device.

Following their time at Boston Scientific, Brian joined NASA Glenn Research Center in 2009 as a Consultant in Space Communications. In this role, they led the development and use of advanced software solutions for trade studies and simulations of space communication networks and systems. Their achievements included successfully integrating a network simulator with a spatial temporal information system, leading to increased funding for NASA Glenn Research Center and multiple publications.

In 2010, Brian moved on to Cisco where they held various roles over the course of four years. Brian started as an Embedded Software Engineer and quickly progressed to the position of Senior Software Engineering Manager. During their time at Cisco, they led software development for the company's Wireless Networking & Services group and played a crucial role in the development and launch of the Cisco Aironet 3700 Series Access Point.

In 2014, Brian joined Google as a Senior Software Engineer and was later promoted to a Staff Software Engineer and Senior Staff Software Engineer roles. Brian worked on projects within the Loon division and Google[x], gaining expertise in software engineering and contributing to the development of innovative technologies.

Brian's most recent work experience includes positions at Meta and Aalyria. Brian joined Meta in 2020 as an Individual Contributor and later took on the role of Senior Staff Engineering Manager. In 2022, they transitioned to Aalyria where they currently serve as the Chief Technology Officer.

Brian Barritt earned their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Engineering from Case Western Reserve University in 2005. Brian then went on to complete their Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Computer Engineering at the same institution from 2004 to 2006. Brian later pursued an MBA in Systems & Technology at the University of Minnesota - Carlson School of Management, graduating in 2010. Brian continued their education at Case Western Reserve University, earning a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from 2011 to 2017. In addition to their degrees, Brian also obtained certifications in Systems Engineering, Architecture and Lifecycle Design from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as well as being a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP).
