Schaun Wheeler

Schaun Wheeler is the Co-Founder at Aampe. Prior to this, they were the Principal Data Scientist at Valassis from June 2017 to July 2020 where they were the data science lead for the Consumer Graph product. Schaun also prototyped out some more experimental capabilities, such as inferring relevant physical areas outside of store boundaries (sidewalks, parking lots, etc.) from mobile location signals, and imputing missing location signals from low-quality data.

Before Valassis, Wheeler was at Success Academy Charter Schools from November 2014 to June 2017 as their Principal Data Scientist. There, they built a data science team from scratch and designed an algorithm to intelligently aggregate academic performance - current state and growth, at the scholar, teacher, or school level - in seconds. The process formerly took several days and a committee. Schaun also introduced a dashboard system (custom-built at first, then third party integration) that rapidly deployed user-friendly interfaces to meet user need without overwhelming analyst capacity.

Schaun Wheeler has a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Connecticut, an M.A. in Anthropology from the University of Connecticut, and a B.A. in Anthropology, European Studies, Middle-Eastern Studies from Weber State University.
