Anne Edwards

Chief Medical Officer at AAP

Anne Edwards has extensive work experience in the healthcare field. Anne started their career in 2000 as Chief Resident at the University of Minnesota. In 2001, they joined Park Nicollet Health Services as a Pediatrician and later became the Chair of Pediatrics. Anne also served as the Associate Chair of Pediatrics from 2007 to 2009.

In 2003, Anne became an Adjunct Faculty at the University of Minnesota, where they continued to contribute to medical education. Anne joined the American Academy of Pediatrics, Minnesota Chapter in 2006 and served as the Past-President, leading a board of 900 members focused on children's health and well-being. During their tenure, they developed the chapter infrastructure and increased the annual budget significantly.

From 2011 to 2017, Anne held the role of Chair of the Policy and Advocacy Committee at the American Academy of Pediatrics, Minnesota Chapter. Simultaneously, they served as Co-Medical Director of Children's Health Initiatives at Health Partners from 2015 to 2022.

In 2012, Anne joined the American Academy of Pediatrics at the national level and took on various roles, including Chair of the Committee on State Government Affairs and Co-Chair of the Task Force on Pediatric Practice Change. Anne also served as Senior Vice President for Primary Care and Subspecialty Pediatrics, where they provided strategic support and leadership in quality improvement initiatives.

Anne's commitment to improving pediatric care extended beyond their professional roles. Anne was a member of the Board of Directors at the Institute for Clinical Systems Improvement from 2014 to 2017. Anne also played a crucial role in a HRSA-funded project as the Physician Lead from 2009 to 2015. Additionally, they co-founded and served on the Advisory Committee of Minnesota Child Health Improvement from 2007 to 2012.

Most recently, in 2022, Anne became the Chief Medical Officer of the American Academy of Pediatrics, where they continue to contribute to advancing child health.

Anne Edwards has a BA in Cultural Studies & Comparative Literature with a concentration in music from the University of Minnesota, where they graduated Summa Cum Laude. Anne also attended the University of Minnesota Medical School, where they obtained an MD degree. Additionally, they completed their pediatric residency at the University of Minnesota.
