Steve Schering has a diverse work experience in the field of journalism. Steve started their career as a Sports Editor for the Glacier student newspaper at Moraine Valley Community College, where they managed the layout of the sports section and conducted interviews with team members and coaches.
After that, Steve worked as a Freelance Writer for the Daily Southtown, where they handled feature stories in Tinley Park and surrounding suburbs. Steve conducted interviews with various individuals, including police officers and public officials.
Steve then served as the Phoenix Student Newspaper Editor at Governors State University, where they worked with the GSU Presidential search committee to provide information about college presidential search finalists. Steve managed the newsroom staff, supervised content in the bi-weekly newspaper, and coordinated with advertisers.

Steve authored multiple stories each week, covered schools, city council, crime, and breaking news. Additionally, they shot and edited photos and videos for publication.
Steve then moved to the Chicago Tribune Media Group as a News Reporter, covering Oak Park and River Forest. Their responsibilities included covering a variety of topics including schools, city council meetings, crime, enterprise, courts, and breaking news. Steve also shot and edited photos for online and print publications.
Most recently, Steve has been working as a Freelance Writer for NextAdvisor, creating branded content for TIME's website and digital platforms through a partnership with Better.com. Steve interviewed homeowners across the United States who have used Better to secure a mortgage and profiled them for TIME.
Currently, Steve is a Staff Writer at the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Steve Schering attended Harold L. Richards High School from 2000 to 2004. After graduating from high school, they enrolled at Moraine Valley Community College from 2004 to 2006, where they obtained an Associate in Science degree. Following their time at community college, they moved on to Governors State University from 2006 to 2008, where they completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications.
