April Canter

April Canter, MPA, serves as a Board Member for the Angelman Syndrome Foundation and has been a member of the Simons Searchlight Community Advisory Committee since November 2023, leveraging expertise to improve research presentation. Currently, April holds the position of Federal Strategy Director at AARP, where focus lies on Republican outreach and strategy development. An extensive advocacy background includes roles as Policy Advisor and Advocate for multiple organizations since March 2012, and as Coalitions Director/Senior Legislative Assistant for Congressman Joe Sempolinski. Previous positions include Director at the ASXL Rare Research Endowment Foundation, Government Affairs Manager at Harley-Davidson, Chair of the Event Committee for RightNOW Women PAC, Associate Director at the American Nurses Association, and Professional Staff Member for the US House of Representatives. April holds a BS in Political Science and Government from Northern Arizona University and an MPA from the University of Colorado Denver.
