Ben Hammer

Ben Hammer is a seasoned communications professional with extensive experience spanning various sectors. Currently serving as the Director of Strategic Communications at AARP since November 2018, Ben focuses on advancing policies for Americans 50+, including healthcare access, financial security, and support for caregivers. Prior to AARP, Ben was Principal at Hammer Strategies, where consulting efforts revolved around public affairs and strategic communications for a diverse clientele. As Vice President of Strategic Communications at Glover Park Group, Ben worked on public policy and litigation support for technology and media clients. Ben's career began in journalism, with roles as a beat reporter for the Washington Business Journal and as a staff writer for several publications, including Industry Standard magazine. Ben holds a BA, Magna Cum Laude, in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania.
