Cathy McLeer

Cathy McLeer has an extensive background in communications and journalism, with significant experience at AARP from December 2005 to December 2015, serving as Associate State Director for Communications and later as Senior Advisor for the Central Region. In these roles, McLeer was responsible for member communications, public relations, and strategic support for advocacy and community outreach across nine states. Prior to AARP, McLeer worked in television news, producing daily newscasts at WCCO-TV and serving as an anchor, producer, and reporter at KELO-TV. McLeer's early career included reporting at KSFY-TV, where skills in interviewing, story writing, and video editing were developed. McLeer holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and a high school diploma from O'Gorman High School.
