Ellen Acevedo is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in volunteer engagement, community outreach, and project management. Currently serving as the Associate State Director of Volunteer Engagement and Mobilization at AARP since July 2014, Ellen plays a critical role in involving volunteers to advance AARP Illinois' strategic priorities. Previously, as Project Director for RSVP Chicago, Ellen successfully led a program for matching senior volunteers with nonprofit organizations, securing a federal grant for community outreach initiatives. Ellen's leadership experience extends to roles such as Vice President and Treasurer of Latinas On The Plaza, overseeing the organization's membership and development programs, and serving as External Affairs Manager at UCAN, where Ellen enhanced diversity and inclusion practices. With a background in education and a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts from DePaul University, Ellen is dedicated to empowering communities and supporting individuals through leadership and mentorship initiatives.
