Emily Pickren is an accomplished communications professional with extensive experience in external relations and advocacy, currently serving as the External Relations Senior Advisor at AARP since April 2020. In this role, Emily focuses on creating positive social change and enhancing the lives of adults aged 50 and older in the District of Columbia. Prior to AARP, Emily held the position of Senior Communications Manager at the Food Research & Action Center and served in various communications roles at the National League of Cities. Emily began her career at Northbridge Environmental Management Consultants. Emily holds a Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and English from the University of Florida.
