Eugene Varela is the State Director at AARP New Mexico, a position they have held since 2012. Previously, Varela served as a Board Member for the American Society on Aging from 2004 to 2007. They earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies from The College of Santa Fe between 1968 and 1972, followed by a Master of Public Administration from The University of New Mexico from 1979 to 1981.
