Katherine Severin

Katherine Severin, APR, MPA, currently serves as the Associate State Director of Communications at AARP, overseeing digital content creation and event promotion since November 2020. Previously, Katherine held the position of Communications Director at the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation, where an integrated communications plan was developed to meet messaging and financial goals. Other roles include Communications Specialist in the Mayor’s Office, Community Development Specialist at the Office of Economic and Community Development, and Special Assistant in the Office of Mayor Ethan Berkowitz. Katherine began career involvement in politics as a Staff Assistant for U.S. Senator Mark Begich and gained early experience as a legislative intern and environmental educator. Katherine holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Alaska Anchorage and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Colorado College.
