Ron Swanda

Member, DC Executive Council at AARP

Ron Swanda has extensive experience in advocacy and leadership roles focused on aging and senior issues in Washington, D.C. Since June 2010, Swanda has served as a member of the Age-Friendly DC Task Force and co-chair of the Age-Friendly DC Committee on Social Participation, both appointed positions by DC Mayor Bowser. Additionally, Swanda holds the position of Vice Chair on the DC Commission on Aging and has been a member of the AARP DC Executive Council since June 2014. With a commitment to senior advocacy, Swanda has volunteered as an advocate for seniors in D.C. since 2007. Prior experience includes serving as President and Senior Vice President of the General Aviation Manufacturers Association from April 1982 to August 2007, and as a pilot and instructor in the United States Air Force from 1969 to 1980, where Swanda graduated as a distinguished graduate from USAF Squadron Officers School. Academic credentials include a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and an MBA from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
