FPGA Design Engineer at Abaco Systems

David Allen has a diverse work experience in various roles related to engineering and astronomy. David started their career in 2002 as a Research Assistant at the University of Wyoming's Department of Physics and Astronomy, where they operated telescopes and coordinated observation programs. David also worked as a Science and Technical Staff member, assisting with instrument changes and maintenance at observatories. In 2006, they joined Lowell Observatory as a Telescope Operator/Technician, where they collected astronomical data, maintained equipment, and calibrated optical instruments. From 2011 to 2016, they worked at Arizona Embedded Systems, LLC as an Electrical Engineer, designing and building control and data acquisition systems for the Navy Prototype Optical Interferometer. Most recently, they have been working as an FPGA Design Engineer at Abaco Systems, Inc. Since 2017. Overall, David has gained experience in areas such as embedded firmware/software design, hardware/circuit board design, and GUI/application software development.

David Allen obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Astronomy/Astrophysics from the University of Wyoming between 1999 and 2005. David pursued further education and earned a Master of Science Engineering (MSE) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Northern Arizona University from 2011 to 2014.
