John Torgerson

Embedded Software Engineer at Abaco Systems

John Torgerson has extensive work experience, starting with their role as a Computer/Communications Systems Programmer in the United States Air Force from July 2005 to July 2009. During this time, they demonstrated skills in programming languages such as C#, C++, and Visual Basic, and gained experience in content management and program development processes.

Following their military service, Torgerson worked as a Software Engineer Intern at Textron Systems from June 2012 to August 2013. John contributed to the development of DCGS, an intelligence collection and analysis tool for the US Army, by analyzing software problems, designing and implementing fixes, and conducting integration testing.

In 2014, Torgerson joined FirstView Consultants Inc. as a Staff Software Engineer. In this role, they served as a tech lead, primarily working on an underwater pool projector for Pentair. Notable contributions included developing a C# desktop application to command a device to perform test sequences, collecting data from sensors, and presenting detailed sensor readings for diagnostics. Torgerson utilized various technologies, such as C++, C#, Visual Studio 2015, TFS, WPF, JSON, and XML, to successfully complete this project.

After leaving FirstView Consultants Inc., Torgerson worked as an Android Build Engineer at Orro from April 2017 to June 2018, before joining Abaco Systems, Inc. as an Embedded Software Engineer in August 2018, where they are currently employed.

John Torgerson obtained their A+ certification from CompTIA in May 2004. John then went on to attend Austin Community College from 2009 to 2011, where they earned an Associate of Science (AS) degree in Computer Science. Continuing their education, John attended Texas State University from 2011 to 2014, where they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and Mathematics.
