Alec Joannou

Alec Joannou serves as the ABB Global CIO since November 2018, focusing on transforming the IT function to enhance business value through significant achievements including managing a major cyber security incident and enabling remote work for 150,000 users during the Covid-19 pandemic. Prior to ABB, Alec held key roles at Sasol as Chief Digital Officer and Group CIO, where responsibilities included establishing a global Digital Office and overseeing IT operations to drive shareholder value. Alec's experience extends back to Anglo American, IBM Global Services, and PwC Consulting, with notable contributions to SAP systems and digital implementations. Educational qualifications include a BSc in Computer Science from the University of the Witwatersrand and a program completed at INSEAD in 2023.
