Dr. Gerd Schmidt is currently the Group Vice President and Head of Quality & Continuous Improvement for the Power Grids Business at ABB, where they lead quality management systems and talent development initiatives. Previously, Dr. Schmidt served as the Executive Vice President and Head of Corporate Quality at Schindler Group from 2013 to 2020 and held senior roles at Siemens Healthcare, Adam Opel AG, and BEUMER Group. They earned a Dipl.-Ing. in Engineering from the University GH of Paderborn and a PhD in Human Biologies from the University Erlangen, graduating summa cum laude.
