Thomas Schmoelzer

Thomas Schmoelzer is currently the Technology Center Manager ELDS Germany at ABB, where they oversee innovative developments in low and medium voltage products. They previously held roles as a Senior Scientist, leading research focused on sustainability in materials, and as a Scientist, where they directed projects and collaborated with universities. Thomas began their career as a Doctoral Researcher at the Department of Physical Metallurgy and Materials Testing, investigating intermetallic TiAl alloys, and also completed an internship at Plansee SE, researching thermal management applications. Thomas holds a Ph.D. and a Master’s Degree in Materials Science from Montanuniversität Leoben and an Aeronautical Engineering degree from HTL Eisenstadt.
