Chen Zhang

Chen Zhang is a seasoned engineering professional with extensive experience in the medical device industry. Currently serving as Principal Hardware Engineer at Abbott since October 2017, Chen provides technical leadership for the R&D Cardiometabolic Business Unit, focusing on product development and sustaining engineering. Prior to Abbott, Chen held the position of Sr. Engineering Manager at Alere Inc., where responsibilities included managing design transfers and process validation for multiple medical devices. At HemoSense, Chen was the Manager of Engineering, overseeing the final development stages and production transfer of a coagulation monitoring device. Earlier experience includes roles at Cholestech, where significant contributions were made in firmware and hardware revisions as a Sr. Product Engineer and in optimizing production processes as a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer. Chen holds multiple degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Instrumentation Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and California State University-Sacramento.
