Hongwei Zhang

Hongwei Zhang is currently the Head of R&D, Medical and Clinical Affairs at Abbott, a position held since 2025. Prior to this role, Hongwei served as the Senior Director of Development, R&D at Abbott Point of Care from 2017 to 2023, and as Executive Director, R&D and Process Engineering at Luminex Molecular Diagnostics from 2014 to 2017. Hongwei has extensive experience in managing R&D organizations and directing research activities, particularly in biomarker development during their tenure at GeneNews Corporation from 2001 to 2007. They hold multiple degrees, including a Ph.D. in Medical Science from the University of Toronto.
