Laura de Vries is currently a Regulatory Affairs Manager at Abbott Diabetes Care, focusing on compliance with legislation and standards in Europe and BeNeLux. Prior to joining Abbott in 2023, Laura spent 23 years at the Dutch Competent Authority for Medical Devices IGJ, where they specialized in market surveillance and vigilance activities. Laura was also a member of the Medical Device Coordination Group (MDCG) and contributed to the implementation of the MDR and IVDR. Holding a Master of Science from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and a PhD from Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam, Laura successfully defended their doctoral thesis on implant registries in December 2017.
