Rich Roth is a seasoned leader in research and development, currently serving as Senior Director of R&D for Rapid & Molecular Diagnostics at Abbott and CEO of Ionian Technologies, LLC. They lead a multidisciplinary team focused on the commercialization of rapid human in vitro molecular diagnostic tests. Rich co-invented the NEAR technology and developed several notable tests, including the first CLIA-waived molecular diagnostic test, the ID NOW Influenza A & B test, and the ID NOW COVID-19 test, which achieved EUA approval in just 30 days. Rich holds a PhD in Biology from New York University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University.
